The latest in a series of mobile phones to challenge Apple's iPhone could come from Phillips, it has emerged.
According to thesmartpda.com, Phillips has announced the launch of two new mobile phones that combine a range of features that could be of interest to those looking for something similar to the currently unavailable Apple model.
It is reported that the first of the two "iPhone like devices" is the Philips X800, which although only a 2G GSM model, comes equipped with a 2.9-inch screen, document reader, handwriting recognition, two-megapixel camera, microSD slot and Bluetooth.
However, it is the Philips Xenium that the site claims could cause concern for Apple as the high specification handset offers a three-inch screen and is a UMTS/HSDPA device that uses Windows Mobile 6.
"Will these devices compete with the iPhone and iPhone rival devices? Chances are slim but we will have to wait and find out," the site concludes.
The 8GB iPhone is currently out of stock in stores, following the announcement
